Sasha's First Birthday Party in Washington, DC
Today we had Sasha's first birthday party at My Gym Kentlands. Our nanny Kim and her Mom threw an amazing party for our little Sasha. We are so lucky to have such a loving and caring Nanny along with her Mom and husband. They have made life with Sasha that much more enjoyable. For those of you who could not make it and for those of you who just want to reminisce, please see below for some clips of our wonderful day.

Cheese!!!
Sasha makes this new little face and it is the cutest thing! I cannot get enought of it. She is at such a fun age now where everyday is something new. But I must admit, this has been my favorite so far. Below are a few videos of her new little facial expression.

"Ma-Ma" and then a tantrum...
This is a cute little video showcasing Sasha's first word, "Ma-Ma", how she is mastering the art of jumping and is that a little tantrum? I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

NO!
It's been quite a while since I have posted to my blog but as I was thinking about my blog I realized the value of this wonderful tool. It seems like my pregnancy was so long ago, so visiting my previous posts and seeing the venture we have been on over the past year is remarkable! Going from a little baby bump to a 7 month old in what seems like such a short period of time is mind-blowing. And as I ease back into posting to my blog, I have the perfect video to share. I was feeding Sasha dinner last night and as I brought the spoon to her mouth, this is what she did...
I cannot believe how quickly they learn to say no.

36 Weeks
Today we had our 36th week doctor’s appointment. I cannot believe it is only 3 ½ weeks until my due date! The doctor said everything looks great. She also informed me of the many early signs of labor and when to contact the hospital. That was a reality check. :) She estimated Baby Khoury to be about 6 ½ pounds and very long! We know she does not get that from me. Thanks to Alex, our little girl has a chance at long legs and not having to get all her pants hemmed. The doctor said she is in a pike position with her head down, bum in my right upper abdomen and feet in my left middle abdomen. Too cute! Also, the nursery is shaping up. Alex painted the room, the crib has arrived and the dresser is on its way. We were also able to bring the beautiful cradle back from Boston that my parents lent to us. It is the cradle my grandmother had made for my younger brothers and sister. My dad waxed and cleaned the wood and my Mom handmade amazing bedding. If you were at the shower, you may have seen it there. But do not worry if you were not, I will take some shots of the nursery so everyone can see it. It is breathtaking. Now, if I only had my OCD sister to help me organize everything. :) We have a doctor’s appointment every week now so we will keep you posted. 30 Weeks
Today we had our 30th week doctor's appointment. Everything went well and the doctor said Baby Khoury is right on track. We cannot believe there is only 9 weeks or so until we get to meet our new little one! We are quite excited! This week we also ordered Baby Khoury's crib and dresser. Now we just have to get Daddy to paint the nursery which has not been an easy task. :) Baby Khoury moves all day long and she is starting to do flips in my stomach. Sometimes her movements take my breath away or make me giggle because they tickle. :) Our next doctor's appointment is in 3 weeks so we will post another update then. We miss all of you!

Let's Try This Again: It's a...
girl and we could not be happier! It was so exciting to see her much bigger and moving around. You could tell she was sleeping before the sonogram and we woke her up. She kept putting her hands in front of her face and yawning! There is a sonogram picture below of her with her mouth open from the yawn. The other picture is a close up of her face and hands. She has a cute little face with big eyes, a cute nose (which she seems to have grown into) and a prominent little chin. We cannot wait to meet her! Now it is time to get her room in order before she arrives! These photos are from our Second Trimester Screening, which we will get the results of at our next doctor's appointment Thursday, January 15th. We will be sure to keep you posted!

20 Weeks
20 weeks and my first New Year’s Eve without alcohol. :) It is well worth it though. Shim is growing rapidly and the movements are getting stronger. And when you look at my stomach while Shim is moving you can see it go up and down. It is amazing! It is such a great feeling to experience the baby’s movements. Below are some pictures of the puppies and I making the best of New Year’s Eve. As you can see, the belly just keeps growing!

It's a...
...false alarm. We went to our doctor’s appointment yesterday quite excited to find out if Shim is a “she” or a “him” and to our disappointment, our doctor was not in so they did not do an ultrasound. :( We have two appointments scheduled in January. One is for our regular monthly checkup, which is on Thursday, January 15th, and the other is for our second level ultrasound, which is on Wednesday, January 7th. We are not sure at which appointment we will find out the sex of the baby but as soon as we know, we will be sure to let all of you know. I did get to hear the baby’s heartbeat though. It sounds so cute! Sorry for the disappointment and we will keep you posted! Click on the link below to hear what Shim's little heartbeat sounded like at 17 weeks!

Baby's Second Gift
I am a little behind on my blog so I decided to play catch-up. This is Baby Khoury’s second gift, which is from my parents. It is the most beautiful blanket and it feels AMAZING! I cannot wait to wrap little Baby Khoury up in it. It is made by the company Max Daniel Baby which is a favorite of Jennifer Lopez. Thanks Mom & Dad!

13 Weeks
Yesterday we had our First Trimester Screening where they do an ultrasound and blood test to check for birth defects. I am not a big fan of this test but my doctor highly recommended it. I decided to look on the bright side and thought it is another chance to see Shim! So I have uploaded the latest picture of Shim for all of you to see. This is a much better shot than the 8 week shot. I am not sure if you can make it out but Shim’s head is to the left and body to the right. It was funny, she began the ultrasound and the first picture of Shim was a side shot. All I could see was the nose. :) Alex and I knew our kids would be screwed and the little profile of Shim proved us right. Sorry Shim…noses are not the best trait in both of our families! We will be getting the results of the test in five days. I will be sure to keep all of you posted! Tuesday, November 4, 2008
12 Weeks
Yesterday was our second doctor’s appointment where we were able to hear Shim's little heartbeat! She had trouble finding the heartbeat at first, which made me nervous, but as she made her way towards my belly button, we began to hear the heartbeat. I said to Alex, "I can't believe Shim is all the way up there!” I started to giggle and Alex smiled. It is so surreal in the beginning of the pregnancy but after seeing the sonogram and hearing the heartbeat it is starting to sink in. The doctor said everything seems to be going well so far. We have another doctor’s appointment next week for our First Trimester Screening where I will have another sonogram. I will be sure to keep you updated and hopefully have some pictures for you too!Click on the link below to hear what Shim's little heartbeat sounded like!
11 Weeks
So I'm 11 weeks and even though my pants are starting to fit a little tighter, I did not think I had a belly yet. But as I was talking with one of my coworkers, she kept glancing at my belly. I did not think it was that much bigger but the more she looked at it the bigger it felt! I tried holding it in, as I have not told my coworkers or my boss I am pregnant yet, but no such luck. I tried to squeeze but it would not budge. Thank goodness I was holding a stack of papers in my hand which I casually placed in front of my stomach to hide the expanding pouch. I guess you could say I am showing a little now.Friday, October 17, 2008
Baby's First Gift
Jes and Marco came to visit us this past weekend and brought Shim his/her first gift! It is too funny! It is a t-shirt that says "I can't help it good looks are in my genes, just look at my Aunt". Only Jes would think of this one. :) It is so exciting to receive our first baby gift. Thanks Auntie! And since she is so fair, just like our Auntie Susan, she brought gifts for Bruiser and Berkeley too. They were happy their gift was not clothes...I torture them enough with that. Their gift was a treat from Topsfield Fair and they LOVED it!!!! Alex and I couldn't find them for 15 minutes while they were devouring their treat. :)P.S. Berkeley turns 2 today! Happy birthday Berkeley!

Uncle Marco
My sister Jes is finally engaged! Sorry Marco, but we have been waiting a while. :) And look at that ring! I guess it was worth the wait. We could not be happier to know that Marco is going to be Shim's Uncle Marco!!! Marco is an amazing person and we know he will make a great Uncle. We are so excited to officially welcome him to the family and we know Shim will just love him!
